Ram raid at Bestwood Hill Food and Wine

According to an article published on 9 June 2025 by Thesun, a burglar identified as Kayne Palmer, 33, carried out a ram raid on the Bestwood Hill Food and Wine off-licence in Nottingham. Using a stolen van, Palmer smashed through the shop wall, causing significant structural damage.

Thesun reports that the incident occurred in October 2023. The shop owners, who were upstairs at the time, were awoken by the impact. Palmer proceeded to steal ยฃ7,897 worth of cigarettes and alcohol, along with ยฃ3,239 in cash from the till, before fleeing the scene. The perpetrator was later apprehended by police following a wider crime spree and pleaded guilty to multiple offences, including eight burglaries.

Last Friday, Palmer was sentenced to seven years at Nottingham Crown Court and received a five-and-a-half-year driving ban. Detective Inspector Julian Eminson-Ferry of Nottinghamshire Police noted the severe impact the raid had on the victims' business and livelihood.

Business owners are encouraged to install reinforced bollards or security barriers to prevent vehicles from accessing storefronts.
