Ram raid at Tesco Express in Weaverham
According to an article published by Liverpoolecho on 11 November 2025, a man has been sentenced to three years in prison following a burglary at a Tesco Express store in Weaverham. Robin Vaughan, 35, appeared at Chester Crown Court where he was sentenced for his role in the incident.
Liverpoolecho reports that the burglary occurred in the early hours of Monday, 16 June. CCTV footage showed a silver Nissan Navara being used to ram the building on Northwich Road, causing significant structural damage. Once inside, the offender stole more than £3,000 in cash and a bag of parcels.
The investigation revealed that the vehicle used in the raid had been stolen from an address in Lancashire in May 2025. Following an analysis of CCTV and ANPR footage, authorities identified Vaughan and arrested him at his home in St Helens on 8 October. Vaughan pleaded guilty to conspiracy to burgle. The stolen parcels were later recovered from a nearby pond, and the vehicle was found abandoned in a field in Dutton.
Business owners are encouraged to review their security measures, including the installation of reinforced bollards to prevent vehicle-based intrusions.
