Men reports that the perpetrators caused £35,000 in damage to the premises and stole £3,000 in cash along with several parcels. The store was forced to close for two days, resulting in an additional loss of £24,000 in revenue. Investigators identified the vehicle used in the raid as stolen and utilized CCTV and ANPR footage to track the suspects. Robin Vaughan, 35, of St Helens, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to burgle and was sentenced at Chester Crown Court.
Police Constable Dan Lee described the event as a carefully orchestrated incident. Following the burglary, the stolen parcels were recovered from a nearby pond, and the vehicle was found abandoned in a field in Dutton.
