Ram raid burglary at Co-op supermarket in Cranbrook

Ram raid burglary at Co-op supermarket in Cranbrook

According to Devonlive, a Co-op supermarket located on Younghayes Road in Cranbrook was targeted in a ram raid during the early hours of Wednesday, 4 June. The incident, which occurred at approximately 4:05 am, resulted in the destruction of the store's front entrance and the theft of an ATM.

Devonlive reports that three male suspects allegedly used a black Land Rover to smash through the shop front before removing the cash machine. The vehicle was later found abandoned nearby, and it is believed the suspects fled in a different black car, potentially an Audi or Mercedes with false plates. A spokesperson for the Co-op confirmed the break-in and stated that the company is working to reopen the store.

Devon and Cornwall Police are currently investigating the burglary. Authorities are also looking into an attempted break-in at another Co-op store in Exeter that occurred shortly before the Cranbrook incident to determine if the two events are linked. Police have requested that anyone with information or relevant footage contact them.

Business owners are encouraged to review their perimeter security and consider installing bollards to prevent vehicle-based intrusions.
