Ramsgate Gambling Addict Sentenced After Stealing Family Heirlooms and Cash in Margate

MARGATE — A court has heard details of a heartbreaking breach of trust after a gambling addict from Ramsgate stole precious family heirlooms from his partner and cash from her young son during a series of thefts in Margate.

The defendant, who was struggling with a severe and escalating gambling addiction, targeted his girlfriend's home, systematically taking items of high sentimental and financial value. Among the stolen goods were irreplaceable family heirlooms, which he subsequently sold off to fund his habit. In addition to the heirlooms, the man also stole cash belonging to his partner's son, compounding the distress caused to the family.

The prosecution outlined how the victim felt completely betrayed by someone she had welcomed into her home and trusted.
