Intruder sentenced following Worksop home burglary

According to an article published on 5 August 2025 by Nottinghamworld, a 42-year-old man has been sentenced to two years and 11 months in prison following a burglary at a private home in Worksop. On 23 March, the intruder was filmed by a Ring doorbell camera looking directly into the lens before entering the property on Wingfield Avenue.

Nottinghamworld reports that the homeowners were awoken at approximately 8am and confronted the intruder in their bedroom. Following an altercation, the suspect fled the scene, during which he threw rocks, bricks, and a paving slab at the victims, causing damage to their vehicle and physical injury. The victims discovered that their kitchen had been ransacked and a purse containing a bank card had been stolen.

Police identified the suspect after he left his own mobile phone in a plant pot outside the residence. He was arrested at his home two hours later, where he assaulted an officer. The individual pleaded guilty to burglary, criminal damage, possession of an offensive weapon, and two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
