Residential burglary and fraud case in Bedford

According to an article published on 27 May 2026 by Bedfordtoday, a man has been sentenced to two years and three months in prison following a residential burglary in Bedford. Miroslaw Pawlusiewicz, 46, forced entry through the back window of a property while the resident was abroad in July 2022.

Bedfordtoday reports that the perpetrator stole documents from the home, which he subsequently used to attempt to obtain mobile phones and credit cards through fraudulent applications. Detectives from Operation Maze, the specialist residential burglary unit of Bedfordshire Police, linked the suspect to the crime after discovering his fingerprints at the scene and identifying a mobile number used in the fraudulent applications registered in his name.

Pawlusiewicz appeared at Luton Crown Court on Friday, 22 May, where he pleaded guilty to one count of burglary and three counts of fraud. He received a total sentence of 27 months. Detective Constable Pawel Karpinski stated that the strength of the evidence gathered during the investigation led to the defendant's guilty plea.

Ensure that sensitive documents and personal information are stored in a secure, locked location to prevent identity theft in the event of a break-in.
