Residential burglary in Bransholme, Hull
Intruders force resident to flee home
According to an article published on 7 January 2026 by Hulllive, a man was forced to flee his ground-floor flat in Ashworthy Close, Bransholme, after discovering two masked men inside the property. The occupant's friend, who was staying at the flat at the time, heard police shouting and encountered the burglars wearing balaclavas. To escape, the friend climbed out of a kitchen window.
Hulllive reports that the intruders had levered the window open to gain entry. Items stolen during the incident included a mobile phone, a cap, and a bracelet valued at ยฃ350. Forensic evidence proved decisive, as DNA from blood left at the scene identified 48-year-old Simon Green as one of the perpetrators. Hull Crown Court heard that Green, who has a history of serious criminal offences, admitted to the burglary which took place on 3 August.
The victim expressed significant distress, noting that he no longer feels safe in his own home. During sentencing, Judge John Thackray KC emphasized the severity of domestic burglary and the lasting impact such invasions have on victims.
Ensure all windows and doors are securely locked and consider installing a home security system to deter unauthorized entry.
