Burglary at a private residence in Alderley Edge

According to an article published by the BBC on 30 January 2026, a private home in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, was targeted by burglars. The incident occurred on Wednesday, 28 January, while the residents, Maya Jama and Ruben Dias, were away from the property.

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police confirmed to the BBC that officers received reports of the break-in shortly after 11:10 pm. Upon arrival, it was determined that entry had been made to the property and a number of items were stolen. An investigation into the matter is currently ongoing.

The BBC reports that the couple, who moved into the residence late last year, were not at home at the time of the incident. While Manchester City assistant manager Pep Ljinders noted that the club intends to support the player, no further details regarding the investigation or the specific items taken have been released at this time. This location is noted for being a popular area for Premier League footballers, some of whom have also been victims of similar incidents in the past.
