Residential burglary in Mold

According to an article published by Northwalesdailypost on 18 December 2024, a burglar broke into a private home in Mold. The intruder, identified as 50-year-old John Raymond Ward, entered the residence and stole a duvet, which he later abandoned in a backyard because it was too heavy.

The victim, Kathleen Hamilton, a stroke survivor, discovered the break-in during the early hours of 6 November after noticing a cold draft and an open bedroom window. Muddy footprints were found on the window sill. Following the incident, the victim reported feeling anxious and jittery. Northwalesdailypost reports that the defendant was later arrested in Wolverhampton on 11 November.

At Mold Crown Court, the judge sentenced Ward to 20 months for the burglary, with an additional six-month sentence for failing to comply with notification requirements for a separate offence. The court noted that the defendant, who suffers from mental health issues, expressed regret for his actions.

Ensure all windows and doors are securely locked, especially at night, to prevent unauthorized access to your home.
