Incident at a private residence in Preston
According to an article published by Lancslive on 10 January 2026, a residential burglary occurred at a property on Wilbraham Street in Preston. A local woman, Cherel Robinson, entered the home of a neighbour through an unlocked back door.
Lancslive reports that the householder discovered the intruder in his son's bedroom. Upon being spotted, Robinson fled the premises, taking a wallet from the kitchen counter that contained ยฃ180 in cash and family photographs. Robinson, 47, of Alice Square, Preston, pleaded guilty to the burglary at Preston Crown Court.
The court heard that the defendant had 17 previous convictions, primarily for petty theft related to substance misuse. Recorder Andrew Thomas noted that the incident caused significant distress to the victim, particularly as the two were acquainted. Robinson was sentenced to 20 weeks in prison, which included the activation of two previous suspended sentences.
