Residential burglary in Wolverhampton

According to an article published on 12 May 2024 by Birminghammail, a residential burglary occurred in Wolverhampton during the early hours of 15 July 2023. The perpetrator, 45-year-old Jamie Hillman, entered the property by removing a window while the occupant was away.

The burglar stole approximately ยฃ300 worth of items from the dining room, including a television, a bracket, bedding, and a toilet seat. The victim, who had not yet fully moved into the property, obtained CCTV footage from a neighbour. Although the footage was not clear enough to provide a definitive identification, the victim used a fake Facebook account to contact the suspect's girlfriend, Chantelle Platt. Believing the victim possessed clear evidence, Platt apologised on behalf of Hillman and offered ยฃ40 as compensation.

Birminghammail reports that Hillman was sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court on 7 May 2024 for this burglary, alongside animal welfare offences. He received a prison sentence of three years and eight months. Platt received a three-year community order.

Ensure all windows and doors are securely locked when leaving your property unattended.
