Restaurant burglaries and arson reported in Liverpool

Police appeal following incidents on Smithdown Road

According to an article published by Liverpoolecho on 20 November 2025, Merseyside Police are investigating two separate burglaries at the Luminous Bar and Restaurant on Smithdown Road. The incidents reportedly occurred on Friday, October 24, and Sunday, October 26.

Liverpoolecho reports that during these break-ins, cash, tablets, a camera, alcohol, and various meat products were stolen from the premises. The business owners noted that the thefts and the loss of stock from the walk-in freezer have caused significant disruption to their family-run restaurant.

In addition to the burglaries, authorities reported that a flat located near the restaurant was set on fire on October 24. Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service determined that the blaze was started deliberately. Police have released CCTV images of a man they wish to speak to regarding all three incidents.
