Robbery at Betfred bookmakers in Blackburn

According to an article published by the Lancashiretelegraph on 2 July 2025, an investigation has been launched following a robbery at a Betfred bookmakers located on Whalley New Road in the Bastwell area of Blackburn.

Police were called to the premises shortly before 8pm on Tuesday after reports that a man had entered through the back door and threatened staff. The suspect, described as wearing a black balaclava and a black hooded jacket, fled the scene through the back door into an alleyway, carrying cash in a carrier bag.

Detective Inspector Pete Davies of Blackburn CID stated that the incident was a traumatic experience for the staff, though no injuries were reported. A large police presence remained at the scene late into the evening. Authorities are currently working to identify the offender and are appealing to the public for any relevant CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage.
