Alleged robbery on the M1 near Northampton

According to an article published by Thesun on 16 November 2025, Northamptonshire Police are investigating an alleged robbery that occurred on the M1 motorway near junction 16. The incident, which took place on the southbound carriageway, involved the occupants of a black Range Rover forcing a white Toyota Prius off the road.

Thesun reports that two masked men exited the Range Rover and approached the Prius, which had been pushed into the central reservation. The suspects allegedly threatened the driver and stole items from the vehicle before fleeing the scene. National Highways confirmed that their systems detected stationary traffic at 3:01pm, and traffic officers arrived shortly thereafter to assist with the recovery of the damaged car.

Northamptonshire Police have arrested four men from South Yorkshire, aged 28, 29, 32, and 32, on suspicion of robbery. The suspects have since been released on police bail pending further enquiries. Authorities are currently appealing for any motorists who may have dashcam footage of the incident to come forward and contact the police, quoting incident number 25000664594.
