Roof-Raid Burglary at Family-Run Phone Shop in Hull Leaves Owners Devastated
A family-run phone repair and sales business in Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, has been hit by a devastating burglary resulting in the theft of upward of £25,000 worth of stock and cash. The raid on Fast Fix Phones, located on Chapel Street, occurred after hours on Friday, 12 July 2024, leaving the local business community alarmed and the owners in deep distress.
The perpetrator bypassed standard security by accessing the building through the roof in an unusual and sophisticated manner. Entry was gained via a third-floor rear window, with the intruder then descending into the retail area by breaking through the ceiling panels. CEO Shahid Hussain admitted the family was entirely unaware of any vulnerable entry points from the roof level.
“This incident has had a significant financial and emotional impact on us. We are a small, family-run business, and this loss is a major setback for us,” stated Shahid Hussain.
The emotional toll of the burglary was immediate and severe; Mr. Hussain collapsed on the day the break-in was discovered and had to be hospitalized for a day due to pre-existing heart and health problems. His son, Samran Hussain, shared the family's shock and updated customers that £25,000 of stock, primarily comprising new and used mobile phones, along with cash from the safe, had been stolen.
Fortunately, none of the customers' phones brought in for repairs were taken, sparing the shop from further complications. Despite the significant blow, the business remains open. Humberside Police have confirmed they are investigating the break-in and damage to the roof, urging anyone with information to call 101 quoting investigation reference 24*98017.
