Safecracking Suspect Arrested After Park Avenue Burglary and Foot Chase
LYNCHBURG, VA โ A commercial burglary involving the theft of a safe resulted in the arrest of a Lynchburg man following a foot pursuit in the downtown area. The Lynchburg Police Department arrested 36-year-old Nico Pollard in connection with the crime, which occurred on September 16, 2025.
Business Safe Stolen from Park Avenue
On the morning of September 16, officers responded to a business in the 1700 block of Park Avenue following reports of a break-in. Investigators determined that a male suspect had forcibly entered the property and managed to remove a safe containing an undisclosed sum of cash.
Detectives began processing evidence and following up on tips, which quickly led them to identify Pollard as a suspect. On the evening of September 19, officers located Pollard in the 50 block of 9th Street. Upon seeing police, Pollard attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended after a brief chase.
Pollard Faces a Slate of Charges
Following his arrest, Pollard was hit with multiple charges, including burglary, possession of burglary tools, grand larceny, trespassing, obstructing justice, and possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance. Authorities confirmed that the investigation remains active as they search for a second potential suspect believed to have assisted Pollard in the heist.
