Serial Burglaries Hit Multiple Northridge Businesses, Including Local Coffee Shop

NORTHRIDGE, CA — A string of early morning burglaries struck several commercial properties in Northridge on Wednesday, including the community staple Yonder Coffee, raising alarms among local business owners about rising property crime in the San Fernando Valley.

The burglaries occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, January 10, 2024. According to police reports, the suspects targeted a strip of local businesses, smashing glass doors to gain quick entry. Inside Yonder Coffee, the burglars ransacked the register area and took cash before moving on to adjacent storefronts. The entire spree was executed within a matter of minutes, pointing to an organized crew focusing on quick-cash grab operations.

Yonder Coffee, known for its strong community ties and local customer base, expressed gratitude for the support they received following the break-in. "It’s a tough blow for a small business, but we are resilient," the owners shared on social media. "We’re working with the police and our neighbors to make sure our community remains safe and welcoming." Repair crews spent the morning boarding up shattered windows so the shop could resume limited operations.

The Los Angeles Police Department is reviewing high-definition security camera footage from the burglarized shops. The suspects are believed to have used a getaway vehicle parked nearby. Detectives are investigating whether this incident is connected to similar commercial burglaries reported in neighboring suburbs of the San Fernando Valley over the past winter months.
