Series of burglaries at Anglian Water sites in Cambridgeshire
Police investigate utility site break-ins
According to an article published by the BBC on 1 April 2025, police are investigating a series of burglaries targeting Anglian Water sites across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. Detectives have linked multiple incidents that occurred between November and March.
The BBC reports that thieves targeted sites in Fengate, Ramsey, St Neots, and Abbotsley, attempting to steal fuel and cables. Specific incidents included a theft of cable at Third Drove in Fengate on 17 November and a break-in at Stocking Fen Road in Ramsey on 11 February. Further attempts were recorded in March at sites in St Neots and Abbotsley, where suspects were unsuccessful in removing property.
PC Bradleigh Bucknell has appealed for anyone with information regarding these offences to contact the police. Authorities have also advised residents living near these utility sites to remain extra vigilant.
Business owners should ensure that all high-value equipment and fuel storage areas are secured with robust locks and monitored by functional surveillance systems.
