Seven Arrested After Break-In at Partially Collapsed Former Mansfield Supermarket

MANSFIELD — Nottinghamshire Police have arrested seven people following a break-in at a former supermarket building in Mansfield that is already partially collapsed.

Officers were alerted to suspicious activity at the derelict site, which had been previously closed due to structural safety failures. Upon arriving at the scene, emergency responders discovered that a group of intruders had managed to gain access to the interior of the hazardous structure, despite visible warnings and security perimeter fences.

Due to the compromised state of the building, police had to exercise extreme caution during the operation to secure the site and apprehend the suspects. The seven individuals were taken into custody on suspicion of burglary and building trespass. Local authorities have reiterated their warnings to the public to stay away from the unstable structure, emphasizing that any unauthorized entry not only constitutes a criminal offense but also carries a severe risk of physical harm or death due to potential further collapse.
