Burglary at abandoned B&M store in Mansfield
According to an article published by Nottinghampost on 11 March 2026, seven people have been arrested following a burglary at an abandoned B&M retail store on Stockwell Gate, Mansfield. The incident occurred on the evening of Friday, 6 March.
Nottinghampost reports that police were alerted to a break-in at the premises, which had been forced to close following the partial collapse of the adjacent Walkden Street Car Park in August 2025. Officers discovered that a group had entered the building and removed 140 carrier bags filled with items. While 100 bags were found abandoned near a fire exit, a further 40 bags were recovered at an address in Stanton Hill, Sutton-in-Ashfield.
Those arrested include three men aged 26, 26, and 27, a 23-year-old woman, and three boys aged 15, 16, and 16. All have been released on bail with strict conditions as investigations continue. Local authorities have reiterated that the site remains derelict and dangerous, urging the public to stay away from the structure while remaining stock is cleared.
Business owners should ensure that all vacant properties are securely boarded and monitored to prevent unauthorized access.
