Shootout During Jacksonville Home Invasion Leaves Resident and Suspect Wounded

JACKSONVILLE, FL — A residential neighborhood in Jacksonville was the scene of gunfire on Friday afternoon when an attempted home invasion devolved into a shootout between a resident and intruders.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, multiple armed suspects forced their way into a home. During the confrontation, the resident retrieved a firearm and exchanged shots with the intruders. The resident suffered gunshot wounds but managed to shoot one of the suspects. Both injured individuals were subsequently hospitalized.

Search for Suspects

While one wounded suspect was detained at the scene and remains under police guard at the hospital, JSO reported that at least two other suspects fled the area immediately after the shooting. Patrol officers, canine units, and air support were deployed to search the vicinity, but the accomplices remain at large.

The condition of the resident has not been released, though authorities confirmed both the victim and the suspect are receiving medical treatment. Detectives are urging anyone with information, security camera feeds, or dashcam footage from the area to come forward as they piece together the details of the incident.
