Shop robbery and assault in Stirling
Stirling shop robbery leads to prison sentence
According to an article published on 29 August 2025 by Alloaadvertiser, a 28-year-old man has been sentenced to 32 months in prison following a robbery at a Stirling petrol station shop. The incident occurred at the Asda Express/Shell garage on Kerse Road on 7 December of last year.
Alloaadvertiser reports that the perpetrator forced his way into the premises using a metal pole while a 26-year-old cashier was working alone. Once inside, the assailant threatened the staff member with death while demanding cigarettes. The cashier provided six packets of cigarettes before the individual attempted to force open the till. The perpetrator eventually fled the scene after further threatening the employee.
The individual was later identified via CCTV footage and pleaded guilty to assault and robbery at Stirling Sheriff Court. During the proceedings, the court noted the defendant's history of mental health difficulties and previous convictions for violence. Sheriff Keith O'Mahony stated that a custodial sentence was the only appropriate option given the severity of the crime and the clear distress caused to the victim.
Ensure that all staff members are trained on emergency procedures and have immediate access to panic alarms during late-night shifts.
