Police investigate robbery at Bathgate shop

According to an article published on 21 February 2026 by Dailyrecord, police in West Lothian have launched an investigation following a robbery at a shop on Philip Avenue in Bathgate. The incident occurred at approximately 7:35pm on Saturday, 21 February.

Dailyrecord reports that a man entered the premises and assaulted a member of staff before demanding money from the till. The suspect then fled the scene, heading in the direction of the Elm Road area. Although the staff member was assaulted, they did not require medical treatment.

The suspect is described as a white male, aged between 35 and 40, approximately 5ft 8ins tall, and of medium build with brown eyes. He was wearing a black jacket with the hood up, red tracksuit trousers, and light brown boots, and had his face concealed with a black covering. Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage and appealing for witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage to come forward by contacting Police Scotland or Crimestoppers.

Business owners are encouraged to review their security measures and ensure staff are trained in safety protocols to minimize risk during incidents.
