According to an article published on 22 February 2026 by Kentonline, a man has appeared in court following a shoplifting incident at an Aldi supermarket in Margate. Kentonline reports that Ben Twyman, 35, consumed approximately £5 worth of snacks and a protein shake while walking through the aisles of the store, leaving the empty packaging on the shelves before completing a separate £150 purchase.

The incident occurred on 18 June 2025. At the time, Twyman was on licence following his early release from a six-year prison sentence for an armed robbery at a bookmakers in 2020. During his appearance at Margate Magistrates’ Court on 19 February 2026, Twyman admitted to the theft. His defence described the act as a “moment of stupidity.” Magistrates imposed a 12-month conditional discharge, noting that they did not believe he would reoffend, and ordered him to pay a victim surcharge and court costs.
