Silverwood Construction Site in Hesperia Targeted Twice by Burglars; Over $150K in Damages Reported

HESPERIA, CA โ€” The sprawling Silverwood master-planned community project, one of the largest residential developments under construction in Hesperia, has become the target of repeated commercial burglaries, resulting in massive financial losses.

According to reports released on April 29, 2025, the development site was breached on two separate occasions by unidentified burglars. The suspects targeted high-value machinery, copper wiring, and building materials stored at the site, causing extensive destruction to the infrastructure in the process.

Severe Financial and Operational Impact

Representatives of the Silverwood project confirmed that the combined impact of the stolen equipment and structural damage exceeds $150,000. Beyond the direct financial loss, the thefts have caused project delays as crews work to repair damaged systems and replace specialized building materials.

Large-scale construction sites are increasingly vulnerable to organized theft due to their vast acreage and remote locations in the High Desert. The thieves typically strike during overnight hours when the sites are unoccupied.

"These are not opportunistic crimes; they are targeted operations designed to strip high-value materials from active job sites," noted a local security analyst. "The scale of the damage suggests the perpetrators had specialized tools and transportation to haul the stolen items."

Sheriff's Investigation and Security Upgrades

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department is actively investigating the break-ins. In response to the incidents, project developers are reportedly working to upgrade perimeter security, install advanced surveillance networks, and increase night patrols to deter future thefts.
