Sioux City Man Arrested After Bomgaars Robbery Leaves Store Manager Seriously Injured
SIOUX CITY, Iowa โ A Sioux City man is in custody facing serious charges after a robbery at the local Bomgaars department store escalated, leaving a store manager with severe injuries. The incident, which unfolded in late January, led to an intensive investigation by the Sioux City Police Department and culminated in the suspect's arrest in late February.
According to police reports, the suspect allegedly entered the Bomgaars store on January 27, 2026, and attempted to steal merchandise. When the store manager confronted the suspect and attempted to stop him, the suspect fled to a waiting vehicle. In his attempt to escape the scene, the suspect struck the store manager with the vehicle, causing serious physical injuries that required urgent medical attention.
Emergency medical services rushed the manager to a nearby hospital. Meanwhile, police launched a search for the getaway car and the driver. Investigators worked to gather surveillance footage, interview eyewitnesses, and process forensic evidence from the scene.
Following weeks of investigation and tips from the public, Sioux City police identified and located the suspect. He was arrested on February 25, 2026, and faces multiple felony charges, including robbery, serious injury by vehicle, and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident. The suspect is currently held at the Woodbury County Jail pending his initial court appearance.
