Sledgehammer Smash-and-Grab Heist of Luxury Watches Leads to Arrest in North Haven

NORTH HAVEN, CT — North Haven police have arrested a suspect in connection with a brazen smash-and-grab heist at a local commercial establishment on Thursday, October 16, 2025. The suspect allegedly used a sledgehammer to shatter display cases and steal multiple luxury timepieces.

According to police details, the suspect entered the retail store carrying a sledgehammer. Without warning, he began striking the glass display cabinets, shattering them to gain access to high-end watches inside. After grabbing the valuable items, the suspect fled the establishment, causing significant property damage and leaving employees in shock.

A subsequent investigation by North Haven detectives, aided by video surveillance and forensic evidence, led to the identification and arrest of the suspect. The individual faces charges of first-degree larceny, first-degree criminal mischief, and breach of peace. Police are continuing to investigate whether additional accomplices were involved in the heist or the subsequent distribution of the stolen merchandise.
