Southeast Houston Store Clerk Shot Through Doorknob Hole During Armed Robbery

HOUSTON, Texas — A violent robbery in southeast Houston took an unusual and dangerous turn when a suspect shot a store clerk directly through the opening of a doorknob hole, leaving the employee injured.

The incident occurred at a convenience store located in the southeast portion of the city. According to Houston police, the suspect attempted to gain entry or secure money from a locked area. In a desperate and reckless action, the assailant aligned their firearm with the empty hole where a doorknob had been removed and fired. The bullet struck the store clerk who was standing on the other side of the door. The suspect then fled the scene before emergency responders arrived.

Paramedics rushed the injured clerk to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Law enforcement officers secured the scene and gathered evidence, including ballistics and video surveillance. The Houston Police Department is asking anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area or has information about the shooter to contact the HPD Robbery or Major Offenders Division.
