Southwest Houston Home Invasion Ends in Fatal Shooting of Intruder

HOUSTON, Texas — A home invasion at a southwest Houston apartment complex turned fatal on Thursday when a resident inside the home defended themselves, shooting and killing one of the intruders, according to the Houston Police Department.

The incident took place on April 10, 2025, in the southwest region of the city. Police reported that three suspects attempted to breach the apartment in what appeared to be a targeted home invasion. Once the intruders forced entry into the residence, a person inside the apartment drew a firearm and fired at the suspects. One of the intruders was struck by the gunfire and died at the scene. The remaining two accomplices immediately fled the apartment complex on foot and remain at large.

Houston Police Department homicide detectives and patrol units responded to the scene shortly after receiving emergency calls. The identity of the deceased suspect is being withheld pending notification of next of kin by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. Investigators are actively processing the scene for evidence and interviewing neighbors to identify the two outstanding suspects. At this time, no charges have been filed against the resident, as the shooting appears to be a case of self-defense under Texas law.
