Stolen vehicles and burglaries in Rhyl and St Asaph lead to prison sentences
Two men have been jailed for their roles in a series of residential burglaries and high-speed police chases that began in North Wales and concluded in Cheshire. Kyler Draper, 20, and Benjamin Evans, 20, targeted properties in Rhyl and St Asaph between February 2 and 3, 2026, stealing car keys and vehicles before engaging in dangerous driving to evade law enforcement.
The Crime Spree
The duo entered homes in Rhyl and St Asaph, taking keys to a Seat belonging to an elderly resident in St Asaph and a Hyundai in Rhyl. After stealing the vehicles, they traveled to the Cheshire region, where they carried out further burglaries in Chester and Crewe. Additional vehicles, including an Audi Q3, a Volvo XC90, and an Audi A3, were stolen during their multi-county rampage.
Dangerous Police Pursuits
Cheshire Police tracked the stolen vehicles to the Sandbach area. Draper was apprehended following a 20-minute high-speed chase, during which he drove at speeds up to 100mph and traveled on the hard shoulder. Evans attempted to escape during a separate 55-minute pursuit that saw him drive onto pavements and navigate the wrong side of the road in Birmingham city centre. His flight ended when he collided with other vehicles and a wall.
Sentencing
Both defendants pleaded guilty to charges of burglary, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, and driving without insurance. At Chester Crown Court, Evans was sentenced to three years and nine months in prison, while Draper was handed a three-and-a-half-year custodial sentence.
