Store Employee Shoots and Kills Teenage Robbery Suspect in New Orleans East

NEW ORLEANS, La. โ€” An attempted armed robbery at a business in New Orleans East ended in a fatal shooting on December 4, 2024, after a store manager opened fire on the suspects, according to the New Orleans Police Department.

Investigators say that multiple suspects attempted to rob a commercial establishment located near the I-10 service road. During the incident, a store employee/manager drew a weapon and fired at the armed suspects. One of the suspects, identified as a young male teenager, was struck by the gunfire.

The wounded teenager fled the store but collapsed and died on the adjacent I-10 service road. Another suspect was subsequently arrested by police officers in connection with the robbery. NOPD homicide detectives have launched an investigation into the shooting to determine the exact timeline of events and assess the self-defense claims. Surveillance footage of the incident is being analyzed, and police are asking anyone with details to contact the NOPD or Crimestoppers.
