String of Seattle Gas Station Robberies and ATM Thefts Raise Safety Concerns

SEATTLE, WA โ€” Gas stations and convenience stores across the Seattle metropolitan area have increasingly become target sites for armed robberies and destructive ATM thefts. Recent developments from King County Superior Court and the Seattle Police Department highlight both the legal consequences and the ongoing challenges local businesses face.

Juvenile Suspect Pleads Not Guilty in Coordinated Robbery Spree

On November 21, 2024, the youngest suspect in a high-profile string of convenience store robberies pleaded not guilty in King County Superior Court. The 14-year-old youth, who was 13 at the time of the alleged offenses, is facing four counts of first-degree robbery and one count of making a false statement to a public servant.

The youth was charged alongside two adult co-defendants: 19-year-old Amarri Lard and 21-year-old Ty'Zavius Holmes. According to investigators, the trio conducted four separate robberies within a 90-minute window on the morning of November 15, 2024. The suspects allegedly stole cash, tobacco products, and a cashier's wallet before being apprehended following a police pursuit. Surveillance footage and matching clothing worn by the juvenile suspect at the time of his arrest were central to the state's case.

Armed Robberies Continue to Plague Local Stations

The threat remains persistent, as evidenced by a pair of armed robberies occurring hours apart in March 2026. Seattle police responded to two gas station robberies believed to be committed by the same crew of masked individuals.

The first incident occurred around 7:50 p.m. at an Aurora Avenue North station near Green Lake, where three masked men held a clerk at gunpoint, escaping with $700 in cash, merchandise, and the clerk's personal phone. Just seven hours later, at 2:20 a.m., four suspects in a stolen Hyundai Sonata targeted a station on Fauntleroy Way Southwest in West Seattle, robbing the clerk of several hundred dollars. No injuries were reported in either incident, but police continue to search for the suspects.

Destructive ATM Theft Causes $20,000 in Damages

In addition to armed hold-ups, smash-and-grab ATM thefts have caused massive financial strain on business owners. Security footage from a West Seattle gas station captured a destructive heist where thieves used a pickup truck to ram the storefront multiple times, obliterating the entrance doors and security bars.

The suspects then wrapped a heavy-duty chain around the store's ATM and dragged it out of the building. The business owner reported that while the cash inside the ATM was stolen, the physical damage to the store structure and security systems exceeded $20,000. These incidents reflect the urgent need for heightened security and police presence around late-night retail locations in the city.
