Burglary at an Aldi store in Worksop
According to an article published by Nottinghampost on 25 January 2026, a man was arrested following a burglary at an Aldi supermarket on Gateford Road in Worksop. The incident occurred at 3.47am on Wednesday, 21 January.
Nottinghampost reports that Jonathan McGrath, 37, used a trolley to smash through the store doors. He stole approximately ยฃ300 worth of meat, toothpaste, and batteries. Police arrived at the scene within three minutes and detained the suspect in the car park as he attempted to flee through fire exit doors. McGrath appeared at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on 22 January and was sentenced to eight months in prison.
In a separate incident on the same morning, Nottinghamshire Police arrested two 16-year-olds on suspicion of vehicle theft and burglary after a car was stolen from Sandy Lane. The vehicle was tracked to a Starbucks cafรฉ at the Blyth services, where the suspects were apprehended. Both individuals have been released on police bail while the investigation continues.
