Burglary at Aldi in Worksop
According to an article published by Nottinghampost on 25 January 2026, a man was arrested following a burglary at an Aldi supermarket located on Gateford Road in Worksop. The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, 21 January.
Nottinghampost reports that 37-year-old Jonathan McGrath used a trolley to smash through the store doors. He proceeded to steal approximately ยฃ300 worth of meat, toothpaste, and batteries. Police arrived at the scene within three minutes of the alert. Although the suspect attempted to flee through a fire exit, he was detained by officers in the car park. McGrath subsequently appeared at Nottingham Magistrates' Court and was sentenced to eight months in prison.
In a separate incident reported by Nottinghampost, two 16-year-olds were arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft and burglary following the theft of a car from Sandy Lane later that same morning. Both suspects have been released on police bail as investigations continue.
Business owners are encouraged to ensure that all entry points are properly reinforced and that alarm systems are regularly tested to deter unauthorized access.
