Suspect Apprehended Two Years After Violent Oak Lawn Jewelry Store Robbery and Shooting

More than two years after a violent armed robbery at an Oak Lawn jewelry store left an employee shot and injured, police have arrested a key suspect in the case. The Oak Lawn Police Department, working in conjunction with regional task forces, announced the arrest on August 6, 2024.

The incident dates back to July 2, 2022, when armed individuals entered a local jewelry store in Oak Lawn. During the high-stakes heist, one of the store's employees was shot and sustained injuries. The perpetrators then fled the scene with a significant amount of high-end jewelry, triggering a multi-jurisdictional investigation.

Following an extensive two-year investigation utilizing license plate readers, forensic evidence, and tips from the public, detectives successfully tracked down and arrested a suspect. The individual faces charges of armed robbery, attempted murder, and aggravated battery with a firearm.
