Suspect arrested after shoplifting escalates into armed robbery at Victorville Walgreens

VICTORVILLE, Calif. — A shoplifting suspect is in custody after a simple retail theft escalated into an armed robbery at a local Walgreens pharmacy, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies responded to the Walgreens located in Victorville on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, following reports of a robbery in progress. According to police reports, the suspect was initially observed selecting merchandise and attempting to leave the store without making payment. When store employees confronted the individual, the suspect brandished a weapon, escalating the incident to an armed robbery.

Responding deputies arrived quickly at the location and were able to locate the suspect nearby. The individual was arrested without further incident. The stolen merchandise was recovered, and the weapon used in the robbery was secured by law enforcement.

No injuries were reported during the encounter. The suspect was booked into the High Desert Detention Center on multiple charges, including armed robbery and shoplifting. The case is currently under review by the San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office for formal prosecution.
