Suspect Arrested for Series of Lego Thefts at Fresno and Clovis Target Stores

CLOVIS, California — A suspect has been taken into custody following a string of thefts targeting high-value Lego sets at retail stores across both Fresno and Clovis. The arrest highlights a growing trend of thieves targeting collectible toys for resale on secondary markets.

According to the Clovis Police Department, store security officers at multiple Target locations reported a recurring pattern of a suspect entering the toy aisles, loading carts with expensive Lego collector sets, and bypassing cash registers. The total value of the stolen goods is estimated to run into several thousand dollars.

A joint investigation between Clovis and Fresno police officers led to the identification of the suspect. Officers intercepted the individual during an attempt to leave a local Target store with stolen merchandise. Upon searching the suspect's vehicle, police discovered a cache of unopened, high-end Lego boxes, including rare editions and popular franchises.

The suspect has been charged with grand theft and commercial burglary. Retail theft specialists note that high-value Lego sets are prime targets for organized retail crime due to their high resale demand and lack of serial numbers, making them easy to liquidate online.
