Suspect Arrested in Commercial Burglary After Hurling Keg Through Store Door
Local police have arrested a suspect connected with a brazen break-in at a North Fort Myers store. The burglary, which caused significant property damage, involved the suspect hurling a metal beer keg through the storefront's glass door to gain entry.
Surveillance cameras captured the moment the heavy keg shattered the glass, allowing the intruder to climb inside and quickly grab merchandise. Alarms were triggered immediately, alerting local sheriff's deputies who arrived on the scene within minutes. Although the suspect initially fled, investigators were able to track them down using video evidence and witness descriptions.
The suspect has been charged with commercial burglary and grand theft and is currently booked at the county jail. The business owner has since boarded up the damaged storefront and is working to replace the shattered entryway.
