Suspect Flees on Foot After Crashing Into South Side Business During Police Pursuit
PITTSBURGH, PA — A search is underway for a suspect who fled on foot after crashing his vehicle into a South Side business on Saturday evening during a police pursuit. The incident, which unfolded shortly before 7:45 p.m. on June 20, 2026, drew a massive emergency response near the intersection of East Carson Street and Becks Run Road.
According to the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, officers identified a vehicle belonging to a man wanted on felony warrants for robbery and domestic violence. When officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the driver refused to pull over and fled. While witnesses described a high-speed chase, police officials clarified that the department's policy did not permit engaging in a pursuit, though patrol units followed the vehicle's trajectory.
The pursuit ended abruptly when the suspect lost control of the vehicle and crashed directly into a local business near the popular Page's Dairy Mart. Immediately following the collision, the suspect abandoned the damaged vehicle and fled on foot toward the nearby Monongahela River. Authorities believe he may have utilized a local drainage tunnel to escape search teams.
A female passenger inside the vehicle was evaluated by Pittsburgh EMS at the scene but did not sustain any injuries. Multiple police units, K-9 officers, fire crews, and the River Rescue unit conducted an extensive search of the riverbank and surrounding neighborhoods, but the suspect remained at large. The investigation is ongoing, and police are urging anyone with information on the suspect's whereabouts to come forward.
