Suspect Found on Roof Arrested for Burglarizing East Macon Liquor Store

MACON, Georgia — A burglary attempt at a liquor store in East Macon concluded with the suspect being arrested after deputies found him hiding on the roof of the business.

The incident took place in the early hours of Thursday, February 12, 2026. The Bibb County Sheriff's Office responded to a burglary in progress call at the liquor store. Deputies arriving at the scene discovered signs of forced entry. A search of the interior did not initially locate the intruder, prompting officers to expand their search to the exterior of the building.

With assistance from additional units, deputies located the suspect positioned on the roof of the business. The suspect was ordered down and taken into custody without further incident. He has been charged with commercial burglary and criminal damage to property and is currently held at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.

Authorities have commended the swift response of the deputies that prevented the theft of inventory and led to the direct capture of the suspect on-site.
