Suspect Robs Auburn Gresham Store and Flees in Stolen Vehicle from Parking Lot

CHICAGO, IL — A brazen daytime robbery in Chicago's Auburn Gresham neighborhood ended with a suspect stealing a vehicle from the parking lot to escape. The incident occurred at a commercial storefront, where a male suspect entered, threatened employees, and demanded cash from the register before fleeing to the exterior parking area.

Upon exiting the store with an undisclosed amount of cash, the suspect confronted a vehicle owner who was returning to their parked car. The suspect demanded the keys, boarded the vehicle, and sped away from the scene. Fortunately, no physical injuries were reported inside the store or during the carjacking in the parking lot. "It happened so fast; he went from robbing the cash register to driving off in someone's car within a couple of minutes," said an eyewitness who was nearby.

The Chicago Police Department is investigating the robbery and subsequent vehicle theft. Detectives are analyzing security camera footage from the store and surrounding businesses in Auburn Gresham to trace the path of the stolen vehicle and identify the suspect. Police have urged members of the public to stay alert in parking lots, keep vehicle doors locked, and avoid confronting fleeing suspects.
