Suspect Surrenders After Hours-Long Standoff at Norwalk Gun Store

NORWALK, CA — A tense situation ended peacefully in Norwalk, California, after a commercial burglar surrendered to Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies following an hours-long standoff inside a local firearms dealership.

The incident began early in the morning when deputies responded to an activated commercial burglar alarm at the gun shop. Upon arrival, deputies observed signs of forced entry and confirmed that a suspect was barricaded inside the store, which contained numerous firearms and ammunition. Due to the high-risk nature of the situation, a Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) tactical unit was deployed to the scene.

Surrounding streets were closed, and local residents were advised to shelter in place as negotiators made contact with the suspect. After several hours of negotiation, the suspect exited the building unarmed and surrendered without further incident. The suspect faces charges of commercial burglary and resisting arrest, and sheriff's deputies confirmed no firearms were removed from the store during the incident.
