Tamo Junto Gang War Escalates as Lorry Rams Edinburgh Home in Terrifying Attack
A violent gangland war has spilled onto the streets of Edinburgh after a skip truck was deliberately rammed into a family home in Portobello. The shocking attack, linked to the notorious Tamo Junto (TMJ) crime syndicate, has highlighted an escalating feud involving prominent underworld figures, cocaine deals, and a series of retaliatory firebombings across Scotland.
The Attack on Brand Drive
On Tuesday afternoon, a skip truck ploughed directly into a residential property on Brand Drive, located in Edinburgh's Portobello district. Video footage subsequently released by the TMJ gang showed the heavy vehicle reversing at high speed before crashing through the front of the house, causing severe structural damage and destroying parts of the building. The 19-year-old target of the attack is reportedly an associate hired by Edinburgh gang boss Mark Richardson to rip off underworld figure Ross McGill in a cocaine transaction involving £500,000 in counterfeit cash.
A Trail of Retaliations and Violence
The lorry ramming is the latest in a wave of coordinated attacks over the past 14 months, which have targeted associates of the Daniel crime clan and Mark Richardson. Key incidents linked to the ongoing feud include:
- March 6, 2025: The firebombing of the Belle Cheveux beauty salon on Albert Street, Edinburgh, which was co-owned by Richardson's partner. Logan Carlin, 24, was later jailed for over seven years for starting the blaze.
- April 2025: The torching of a carpet and flooring warehouse in Bishopbriggs, Glasgow, accompanied by a video threat demanding that the Daniels and Richardsons leave Scotland.
- April 14, 2025: A petrol bomb attack on the home of Daniel clan enforcer Steven "Bonzo" Daniel in Bishopbriggs, captioned with "Exterminate the Daniel virus."
- May 8, 2025: An arson attack outside the Craiglockhart home of David McMillan in Edinburgh, where a Land Rover and an Audi were destroyed. Four gang members were later jailed for a combined 25 years.
Law Enforcement and Cross-Border Connections
In response to the escalating violence, Police Scotland launched Operation Portaledge, which has already resulted in more than 60 arrests. Investigators believe the TMJ gang has been aided by members of the rival Lyons crime family, who allegedly provided addresses of targets. The conflict has also seen international developments, including the deportations of high-level figures like Steven Lyons from Dubai to Bali and eventually the Netherlands, as global law enforcement agencies crack down on the networks fueling the Scottish gang war.
