TBI Identifies Suspect Shot and Killed by Police in Hixson Burglary Response

CHATTANOOGA, TN (HIXSON) — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) has officially identified the suspect who was shot and killed by Chattanooga police officers during an active response to a residential burglary in progress in the Hixson community.

The incident unfolded when Chattanooga police officers received an emergency call reporting a burglary at a local home. Upon arriving at the residence, officers encountered an armed suspect inside the property. According to preliminary reports, a confrontation ensued, prompting officers to discharge their service weapons. The suspect status fatal gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

As per standard protocol for officer-involved shootings in the state of Tennessee, local authorities immediately requested the TBI to conduct an independent investigation into the use of lethal force. TBI special agents and forensic teams spent several hours processing the scene, interviewing witnesses, and gathering evidence. The identity of the suspect was withheld initially to notify the next of kin.
