Teen Arrested After Armed Robbery of 17 Phones in Mount Vernon Store

MOUNT VERNON, NY — A fast-acting police response led to the arrest of a teenager who allegedly brandished a firearm and stole nearly two dozen mobile phones from a local retail store before trying to escape through a rear exit.

Armed Heist at Retail Store

The suspect, identified by police as a male teenager, entered the Mount Vernon electronics store and produced a handgun, demanding that employees hand over valuable inventory. He managed to gather 17 smartphones before store staff alerted authorities. The quick notification proved crucial as patrol cars arrived on the scene within minutes.

Trapped at the Back Exit

Recognizing that the front entrance was compromised, the suspect attempted to slip out through the store's rear door. However, officers had already established a perimeter, securing all exits. The teen was apprehended immediately without further incident. A loaded handgun and all 17 stolen mobile phones were recovered at the scene.

The suspect faces charges of first-degree robbery and criminal possession of a weapon as a juvenile.
