Teenager Arrested After Break-In at Cheyenne South High School

CHEYENNE, WY — A local teenager is facing serious legal consequences following an investigation into a late-night burglary at Cheyenne South High School, authorities confirmed on Wednesday.

According to the Cheyenne Police Department, officers responded to a commercial burglar alarm triggered at the high school building late Tuesday evening. Upon arrival, responding officers discovered signs of forced entry, including a damaged window at the rear of the campus structure.

A perimeter was quickly established around the school. Officers, assisted by building security systems, searched the facility and identified a male juvenile suspect inside. The teen attempted to flee the scene on foot but was apprehended shortly afterward nearby without further incident.

Investigating officers located several items of school property in the suspect's possession, along with burglary tools. The minor, whose identity is being withheld due to his age, has been booked into custody on preliminary charges of burglary, possession of burglar tools, and property destruction. Police are still looking into whether any additional individuals were involved in the incident.
