Teenagers Arrested Following Knifepoint Robberies of Two South Side Businesses in Pittsburgh

A group of teenagers has been taken into police custody following a series of armed robberies targeting businesses in Pittsburgh's South Side neighborhood, local authorities reported.

According to the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, the incidents occurred on January 16, 2025. The suspects, armed with a knife, allegedly entered two separate commercial establishments in the South Side area and demanded cash and merchandise from employees. During both encounters, the youth brandished a weapon to intimidate staff before fleeing the scene with stolen goods.

Responding officers quickly saturated the area, locating and detaining the suspect teenagers shortly after the second robbery occurred. No injuries were reported in either incident. Police have not yet released the identities or exact ages of the minors involved due to their juvenile status, but charges related to armed robbery, conspiracy, and carrying a dangerous weapon are pending.

Business owners in the South Side corridor expressed concern over the incident, noting a rise in juvenile crime in the area. Investigations are ongoing to determine if the group is linked to other recent retail thefts or robberies in the vicinity.
