Terrifying Ordeal: Customers Locked Inside Bronzeville DG Market During Robbery

CHICAGO, IL — Customers inside the DG Market (Dollar General) on Pershing Road in Chicago's Bronzeville neighborhood experienced a terrifying ordeal when they were locked inside the store while a group of thieves actively robbed the establishment. The incident, which was partially captured on mobile phone video, has raised serious questions about store safety protocols during active crimes.

According to witnesses at the scene, several individuals entered the store and immediately began grabbing high-value merchandise. In the ensuing confusion, the main entrance doors were locked, trapping multiple shoppers inside with the shoplifters. "It was pure panic. We were stuck in there with people who were actively stealing, and nobody knew if they had weapons," a customer recounted. Some shoppers hid in the aisles while others attempted to find emergency exits.

The Chicago Police Department arrived shortly after receiving 911 calls from trapped individuals. Police are currently reviewing both store surveillance footage and witness videos to identify the suspects who fled the scene before officers arrived.
