Theft of £327k in materials from recycling firm in Stafford

Security breach at Stafford recycling facility

According to an article published on 26 January 2026, Letsrecycle reports that a recycling firm in Stafford has suffered a significant theft of materials valued at approximately £327,000. The stolen inventory includes 38,505 kilograms of copper granules, estimated at £325,000, and 1,714 kilograms of ferrous material worth around £2,000.

According to Blancomet Recycling, offenders breached the site perimeter fence and forced open both internal and external security gates. CCTV footage indicates the suspects removed the materials and fled the scene in the early hours using vehicles with missing or cloned registration plates. The company stated that the loss represents a significant portion of its annual net profit and has impacted its financial planning.

Staffordshire Police are currently investigating the incident under crime reference number 21260008947. The company is cooperating with authorities and has requested that anyone with relevant information contact the police.

Business owners are encouraged to regularly audit and reinforce perimeter security measures, including fencing and gate systems, to deter unauthorized access.
